W T Keys of Upper Manilla offered ewes and wethers at 123d, broken 91d. A E Smith of Manilla quoted 114d.
The Farmers and Graziers' Co operative Co reports offering 7119 bales on 4th inst mostly from mid and near western areas. Wool carried hair and dust in some lots while classing was below standard. Compared with Christmas closing rates values rose 5 to 7 percent with strong Japanese enquiry likely to continue.
The December meeting of the Manilla Show Society was held at the Mechanic's on 17 December with President V. J Byrnes and numerous members present. Topics included appointing QO. Wilson of Concord to judge dogs, poultry, jigs and horticulture, purchasing a flag, planning for His Excellency the Governor's March visit, advertising the show, possible broadcasting of proceedings, and installing corrugated iron over the 10 horse stalls. The next meeting is scheduled for 7 January, with a note on timing to avoid hospital committee conflicts.

Figures from the Commissioner for Road Transport show 212 137 motor vehicles registered in the state at year end, with 146 582 being motor cars. December 1931 saw the greatest road vehicle total since September 1931 and higher than December 1930 by 202. December’s activity centered on new registrations and re-registrations after lapse, aided by quarterly registrations which accounted for 17 percent of total registrations.
Brisbane report says three men attempted to board a train from Duaringa to Emerald. A swag fell under wheels derailing a wagon and delaying the service for about an hour. The trio fled into the bush but were later caught and held on a charge of evading railway fare. Damages from the derailment were noted.
