Relief Work Extended Till June 30 By Municipal Council
The Municipal Council decided on Tuesday night to inform the Unemployment Relief Council that Manila is prepared to provide work for the unemployed until June 30 1937 without the 10 percent bonus. The council would finance up to £134 for the period and consider continuing the relief scheme as a six month trial. Alderman Kennedy favored saving costs on drives, horses and tools, and stressed not borrowing funds. If relief ends, demoralising food relief could return. keeping some employment is seen as a better option.
