Manilla Bowling Club Opens To Barraba Guests
The unofficial opening of Manilla Bowling Club featured a crowd and a reception for Barraba visitors. President A R McLeod welcomed guests while J Kearns outlined the club’s progress with support from the Business Men's Association, Municipal Council, and guarantors. The ceremonial first bowls included J D Kennedy and other dignitaries as the green was declared open for play.

The Federal Minister for Gow weree Dr Harle Page will visit Manilla Friday morning and speak at 11 a.m. at Memorial Hall on referendum proposals. The Mayor will preside and remind the public to submit entries by Saturday February 20 to assist officials.

A Manilla sale on Monday February 22 features a yarding of about 20,000 sheep from mostly flat country consignments and fat prime X bred ewes. Smaller consignments from local farmers will also be sent forward. The sale starts at 1:30 PM.
