Manilla Rural School’s Long Rise From North Manilla Roots
A historic sketch describes Manilla Rural School’s 25 year move to its present site. Originating in North Manilla in 1878, a public school opened in 1901 after local petitions and a debated transfer. The Progress Association and later the Rural School system spurred growth, fundraising, and land purchases, expanding to five acres. First teacher Mr J Rudd remained on staff as the school flourished.
