Manilla RSL Branch Year 1952 Annual Report
The Manilla sub branch of the RSL reports 1952 activities noting King George VI’s death on February 6 and loyalty to Queen Elizabeth II. Eleven meetings plus specials. membership 165. Major events included the Anzac Ball, Tin Hat and Poppy Day sales, school prizes, Scouts Building Fund, Xmas party, and ex servicemen relief. Anzac Day march featured the Manilla Pipe Band, with a memorial service and cemetery wreaths. Strange Objects Seen Over Town At Night
Mr and Mrs Stan Bignall and Mrs W Rogers reported two large illuminated objects seen Monday night. They described two bright birdlike figures moving from the northeast, circling the town, then disappearing southeast in about two minutes. No noise was heard and sky was overcast with few stars.

Attendant Appointed at West Manila Treatment Works

Official Opening of Dressing Sheds Ceremony Slated
