Manilla Council Adopts New Measures At First Meeting
The newly elected Manilla Municipal Council met at Goumeil Chambers with Mayor Alderman J. Coates presiding. Aldermen A. R. Macleod C. L. Wilshire O. N. Scott W. F. Gannon G. F. Grill and A. Battersby attended. The council granted Wongo Creek C.W.A. a street stall on January 17 and reviewed board finances, health inspections, renewals of refreshment licenses, and flood relief works from Manilla to North Manilla. A special committee was formed to examine a Loyal Government Association dam matter. The meeting also covered electoral turnout, evacuation debates, and home defence enrolment notices.
