Spectators near Goulburn, Marulan, watched a black hen defend her brood from a sparrow hawk. The hawk, hovering above, swooped in and was fatally injured after the hen met the attack with beak and claws.

The Mayor said the Municipal Council cannot block a private body building yards if it assigns its interests elsewhere. The special committee will further consider prices and costs. The report was adopted.
