Manilla to Improve No 1 Oval With Coal Grass Coat
The Municipal Council approved a Cricket Association plan to coat No 1 oval with coal grass, promising a vast improvement in fielding safety and accuracy. Manilla already boasts six tennis courts and may host a Sydney team this season with Stan McGabe leading a hoped northward visit. The Ashes retainment by the Australian eleven adds to local cricket excitement as the improved oval, alongside the famed turf wicket, draws visitors and cricketers alike.
