Superintendent Hi Chinner visited Manilla on a North tour to address 60 scouts led by Sergeant Dick with Mayor Bowden presiding. He praised the community’s support for youth clubs and noted police involvement in guiding young people toward good citizenship.
Only 22 tickets issued for last week's Manilla to Sydney excursion, far fewer than last year. Railway officials cite cheap rates since Christmas as a factor, but drought and high living costs keep people home, making Easter travel from Manilla the lowest in years.
The Namoi River at Narrabri is practically negligible as drought continues. Old hands say it has been years since so little water has flowed, and only a short continuance of dry weather is needed before the river ceases to flow altogether, according to the North West Courier.

A. Baldwin states a shooting found or hunting will be prosecuted without regard to persons and all permissions are withdrawn, signed by R. H. Hudson.
A substantial reward will be paid to any person not an accomplice who supplies information leading to the conviction of any person or persons for stealing stock laying poison or trespassing on Eloora or Hazel Dean Arthur Sulman.
A short notice from Bruce Park states that any persons trespassing on their Springmount property will be dealt with by law. All previous permissions are canceled.
