Extension News discusses culling the breeding herd to maximize sale animals on limited land and reduce costs. It lists six criteria for culling including unprofitable cows, chronic issues, calves with poor weight or buyer resistance, and nervous or disliked cows. It promotes confined rearing of sheep as a potentially higher return and invites visiting the office for pamphlets on multiple farm topics.

The Sidney 4 H Garden Club met on Wednesday August 19 at the Arizona school with nine members three leaders and five visitors present. Members judged vegetables identified weeds and seeds in preparation for achievement day on August 29. A committee of Arlene Lintott Kenny Early and Jimmy Early was chosen to plan the final meeting. Joan and Don Carritt gave speeches.

The Manitoba School in Portage la Prairie hosts an Open House on September 26 with tours and a smorgasbord. Entertainment will be provided by the school’s children and adults. ARCM members and friends are invited. names must be given to Mrs. Olito by September 19.
