The Hon J D McLenaghen Manitoba minister announces openings for girls aged 17 to 21 with at least grade 10 to train as nurses in Manitoba Mental Hospitals. Training leads to a diploma and permanent hospital positions. a four year combined General and Mental Nursing course is offered at Brandon and Winnipeg institutions. A quiet wedding was held at United Church Manse Portage la Prairie September 9. Rev. GW Abernethy united Evelyn Eileen Irwin and Sat William Lawrence Kariama in marriage. The bride wore oak brown wool with beige accents and a velvet hat. Attendants and guests included Miss Ethel Irwin and Sgt Bryce Jenkins. The couple planned a brief Winnipeg honeymoon before Kariama’s posting to British Columbia.
