Children Care Campaign Opens October First in Central Manitoba
The Two year campaign for funds for the Children's Aid Society of Central Manitoba starts October 1 and runs all week. Door to door canvassing targets the $180,000 goal across 9,000 square miles serving about 103,000 people in towns like Portage la Prairie and St Norbert. Local volunteers man the effort, with services including child protection, support for unmarried parents, foster care and adoption. Last year 1,426 families received aid, about 1,600 children. The Society relies on government grants and public support to raise funds. Citizens are urged to back the campaign.
