Portage Hosts Manitoba School Trustees Convention
Manitoba School Trustees' Association held a regional convention in Portage la Prairie with about two dozen trustees from Portage and North Norfolk districts. Speakers included Provincial President James Dowsett and Mrs. E J Manns, followed by Minister of Education Ivan Shultz who spoke on education, funding, and teacher wages amid rising costs and regional disparities. Home Making School Activities at United Church Annex
The H. M. S. at the United Church Annex hosts 23 girls learning cooking sewing and other homemaking skills. A scavenger hunt ended with coffee and hot dogs as a social highlight. Dr M Swan and supervisor Miss Speers visited, accompanied by Miss Carruthers and Miss Laurie Muirhead who oversee Manitoba Homemaking Schools.
