Campaign to mobilize farmers for off season work
Arthur MacNamara announced a national drive by the Department of Labour with provincial agriculture help to recruit farm workers for coal, metal mining, fuel wood, fish packing, packing plants and rail maintenance during the farms slack season. Likely 150000 farmers sought across Canada. Off season work will not disrupt farm production and postponement rules remain in place for those who accept approved essential employment. Provincial committees and field organizations will assist in locating farmers for these roles.
