Storm damages Manitoba telephone lines casualties feared
After a Wednesday storm, a long main trunk line in Manitoba broke with about 250 poles down between the point and Portage la Prairie. The crash was heard from Bagot as poles fell north of that place. The Herald urges hiring district men for reconstruction, noting many capable local workers and stressing winter employment for families. Some skilled labor will be needed, but much work can be done by ordinary laborers. The Herald passes along a local request to support district hiring.
