Peter Ward appointed Director of the Delta Waterfowl Research Station in Delta Manitoba by the North American Wildlife Foundation and Wildlife Management Institute. Bruce D J Batt named Assistant Director for Research. Ward, a Manitoba native, has long led avicultural programs and chaired multiple wildlife groups.

Last Thursday the Portage Pairs & Squares started their 1975 76 dance season at the Elks Hall with callers Lawrence and Ray leading dancers through varied movements. An open house is planned for this Thursday with all welcome. Jack Hill of Victoria B C and his mother Mrs Frank Hill of Portage visited this past week.

Six Weekend Mishaps in Portage Area Reported
Portage RCMP report six accidents over the weekend in and around Portage. In city, three mishaps occurred Friday and Saturday with damages ranging from 400 to 900 dollars and no injuries. Rural RCMP logged three more incidents on highways No. 1 No. 14 and No. 331, including a semi in a ditch with 2000 dollars damage and a cow strike that destroyed the vehicle involved. An ongoing investigation into a multi-vehicle collision at the Trans-Canada and No 4 highways is noted with several vehicles damaged and no new details released.
