Salt Plains Raceway thrills and spills report
The Salt Plains Raceway hosted a Sunday program with five stock cars and five hobby stocks. Lawrence Bradley led the first race from start to finish, with Bill Mary second and Wilfred Merke third. The MacDonald Bros led the second race until R Burch faltered, Doug Pennell passed Wheels Edwards for second, and Edwards finished third. The third stock race featured four entrants as Cowboy Wilson was absent, Bradley’s Red Devil led to a close finish. Two hobby stocks were notable in the fourth race, while Greg Dobbin and Terry Rands of Lavenham won the Le Mans event amid mixed results for hobby stocks. The penultimate 6th race saw Wheels Edwards suffer a dramatic end-over-end but emerge unharmed, with only two cars finishing. The day closed with a 15-lap feature where White Knight Bill Moly led early before Red Devil and Cowboys Wilson staged notable moves. Next Sunday, Oct 13, is Ladies Day with a ladies’ gate prize draw and a Powder Puff race.
