Action Seminar By Seven Chambers Here Friday

Seven area Chambers of Commerce will be represented at an action seminar in MacGregor Manitoba on October 8. President Dennis H. Lamb says delegates will gain skills to strengthen their organizations with topics on organization programming committees and meetings. The program starts 6 p.m. in the Legion room with a $3 registration fee for a seminar kit.

The MacGregor Memorial Hall will host the annual pantry shower for fruits crackers graham wafers and more on Thursday October 14 from 3 to 5 pm There will be a bake table tea will be served and friends are invited The hospital requests sugar and a wide range of canned dried and fresh foods plus kitchen supplies.

From Chile With Love: Firemen Visit MacGregor on Route to Montreal

Two Concepcion firefighters Roberto Schmidlin and Ariel Betancourt toured North America in 1929 Dodge cars, covering over 69 000 miles across 16 countries and 40 U S states before settling in Montreal. They stopped in MacGregor last Thursday to meet fire chief Louis Quinn, Mayor Glenn Lye, and local residents, receiving MacGregor Tartan ties from the Chamber of Commerce.

Deer head competition set for December 3 in Memorial Hall

The Northworrouk-machiregor Wildlife Association held an executive meeting led by president Wm. Bennett. The annual deer head competition and banquet will take place Friday December 3 in Memorial Hall. Regulations require members to be members at least thirty days prior to the event. A general meeting is scheduled for Monday October 25.

New liquor directives allow meals with minors in Manitoba restaurants

A Manitoba directive set Oct 15 as the first day minors may drink with meals in licensed restaurants when accompanied by a parent or spouse. It stresses no promotion to under 18s and restricts liquor purchase to a parent or spouse, under amendments to the Liquor Control Act. Other changes permit in-room service to hotel guests and use in hotel amenities.

An interim six-member executive led a Portage la Prairie meeting to form a Portage branch of the Tourist and Convention Association of Manitoba.
