Dieppe War Prisoners Pension Rights Examined
Veterans who spent nearly three years in prisoner of war camps after the 1942 Dieppe raid should receive the same pension and medical rights as other Second World War veterans. The Commons standing committee on veterans affairs was told that many Dieppe prisoners lack entitlements for injuries and disabilities acquired in captivity. George Guiguere urged an inquiry into their plight, noting prisoners faced ulcers, spinal issues, nervous disorders and vitamin deficiencies. Marcel Lambert urged universal medical examinations for all veterans and for the pension commission to take the initiative.
