Editor Letters on Municipal Doctor Salary ByLaw
Communications to the editor describe opposition to a Ty law for a resident municipal doctor in the Mincedoss area. The writer argues the plan would force Pratt Sidney Firdale and Edrans residents to fund most of the $4 1000 needed while landowners would bear $4050. They propose a Winnipeg style Community Chest as an annual six thousand dollar voluntary fund to cover medical and hospital bills for all residents, not a charity.

Austin Local Manitoba Federation meeting praises municipal doctor
The MacGregor Herald reports on a meeting in Austin under the Austin Local Manitoba Federation of Agriculture where Dr Maxwell Bowman of the Health Department spoke to a full audience. Bowman, with eleven years as municipal doctor at Clanwilliam, noted health gains among school children and cited government data showing municipal doctors reduce hospital cases by one third. W R Wood urged members to join the Federation to support the war effort and plan for peace. Mrs T Poyser called for larger membership and the Austin Local’s push for municipal doctors, critiquing Hitler’s trampling of the system.
