Pembina wheat variety released for Prairies by Canada Agriculture
The Canada Department of Agriculture releases Pembina, a hard red spring wheat variety developed by the Rust Area Project Group in Winnipeg. It offers excellent milling quality, rust resistance, and earlier maturity than Selkirk, with distribution limited to Manitoba and eastern Saskatchewan east of the third meridian. Seed must be ordered from the Seed Office in Winnipeg, in units of 12 bushels, pricing ranging from 4.50 to 2.50 per bushel depending on grade, as stocks allow.
