Deer season opens with large turnout and safer hunting

Deer season begins Friday November 26 in the district with no serious accidents so far as experienced hunters guide newcomers. About six to seven hundred hunters gathered in the community pasture near Neepawa, while coyotes and wildlife numbers were touted as down. Dennis Lamb hit the hat of Duthie with a shot of the day, and Norm Bergquist, now chief radio engineer at a Victoria station, visits the area. Local notes include a humorous misfitted underwear anecdote, a car key mixup in the office, and a birthday party for Mayor Cathcart’s granddaughter Ida and grandsons Glen and Lionel of Pratt. Lights flickered briefly as hydro workers swapped a transformer behind the locker plant.
