Benefit Concert to Aid Local Health-Stricken Men
Austin community members plan a Scottish themed concert with Readings Songs duets quartets and instrumentals plus a lunch and dance to raise a Benefit Fund for a young man in health difficulty. The program features the Austin Orchestra and a talk on Scotland by W R Wood. Admission 25 cents for all ages. Pine Creek Church Bazaar and Silver Tea Planned
The Ladies Aid of Pine Creek Church schedules a bazaar and silver tea for Thursday December 4 at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The Austin United Church WMS Autumn Thank-offering meeting was held November 12 at Miss McKenzie’s with a large turnout and generous offering. Mrs Wood spoke on the Ahousat Indian School and Miss McKenzie performed a recitation. The WMS thanks all helpers. A social evening in Light Hill Community Hall on November 12 celebrated Mrs McCready and her sons’ departure for Pratt with a reading by Mrs Geo Hay and a serving tray presentation by Mrs L Sinclair. The program featured Miss Betty Palmer, John Boyd, Edwin Hay, Fred Clarkson, Milfred Hubble as Uncle William Winkler, George Milne as Benjamin Moore, Aunt Jane personified by Mrs T Gilmour, Jane by Ella Waters, Charlie Duncan as the porter, and Annie Leckie as the French maid. Austin Concert and Dance For Memorial Hall Fund
Snowy evening did not dampen the Austin Women's League concert and dance in aid of the Memorial Hall Fund. Proceeds totaled 78 dollars as lively performances of Kitty's Arrival delighted attendees with Allister Hubble starring as Bobby Baxter and the designing actress, while Ronald Duff offered a pleasing portrayal and Mrs. G. Milne led as the real Miss Kitty.
