Mrs Jas Downey and family visited relatives in Austin while a Shor and Harness Repair Shop was expected to open soon. Various residents spent weekends with friends, and local posts announce bazaars, school events, church services, and a commemoration service for Veterans.
The Austin United Church Ladies Aid Society completed a successful year on October 23. They raised 657 dollars, allocated funds to the Church Board, M. M. Fund, Boys Homecoming, and manse repairs, and organized goodwill visits. New officers for 1946 include President Mrs Muir and Treasurer Mrs L Campbell, with Mrs Olson retiring after a second term.
The Austin Egg Grading Station will stay open afternoons from 1 90 to 5 p m except Wednesday when closed all day. Egg prices list A Large dic A Pullet 36 C Grade 29 Crax s 23¢. Manitoba Co op Poultry Marketing Association ships poultry. Order crates from your manager Miss Roth Wallace.
On Friday evening October 26 Mr and Mrs Karl Anderson hosted thirty five neighbors to honor Mr and Mrs August Weber and family before they move from Birmingham to MacGregor. Weber long served Birmingham School District secretary. Six bridge tables yielded prizes to Mrs Paton and Jimmie Lambert. A luncheon followed as Anderson presented an electric lamp bearing best wishes. The Weber family relocates to a new 26 by 32 bungalow near H A Lye’s home in MacGregor.
The Webers thank friends and neighbors in the Birmingham District for kindnesses shown during their residence and the presentation before moving. They also thank Jos Lambert Clifford Chambers Karl Anderson and John Olson for efforts around the suction sale and invite all to visit their new home in MacGregor.
Corporal Jack Ward formerly of MacGregor and now back from overseas expresses gratitude to the MacGregor 1.0. C.E. and all friends for parcels and cigarettes received while abroad.
