New Asphalt Mix Aids Manitoba Winter Road Repairs
Manitoba highways tested a new emulsified asphalt mix for emergency winter and early spring patches. Developed with an American firm and modified by a Winnipeg company, the additive keeps the mix workable in cold weather, enabling quick repairs at strategic points without on-site heating. Regular hot mix remains cheaper for standard work, and the new material will be stockpiled for winter use with several hundred prepared cubic yards already completed across 20 locations from The Pas to Piney.
