Prairie Wheat Needed for Europeans
The trade department announces that the Food Board of the United Nations requests Canada to supply large quantities of wheat and flour to occupied Europe. Transport controls urge moving 2,000 cars to the east by navigation’s end, causing East Canada shortages. Shippers are told to delay non-perishables until about December 15. Canada may boost Wheat and flour exports to the Middle East and India due to Australia’s partial crop failure. Estimated available wheat stores total around 800,000,000 bushels.
