Officials Explain New X-Ray Lab Procedure At Portage
Portage la Prairie District Hospital opened a new Laboratory and X-Ray Unit in the North Wing on September 1. The unit serves Portage Rural, St Francois Xavier, North Norfolk, Portage City, and MacGregor with prepaid services funded by provincial and municipal cost sharing. Eligible residents pay no lab fees though X rays incur a token charge, with Blue Cross and Manitoba Medical Service coverage varying by contract. To access care, residents need an identification certificate, a doctor issued requisition, and an appointment by calling the unit or visiting in person. Emergency services are coordinated through the patient’s doctor.
