Port and Gas Rates Rise May Under Manitoba Board
The Public Utilities Board of Manitoba approved higher natural gas rates for Inter-City Gas Utilities Ltd effective May 1, 1976. President Richard Dahnke said average residential bills will rise by about 20 to 25 dollars annually, the first increase since 1972. Costs are driven by federal and provincial pricing policies and TransCanada Pipelines rate adjustments. Inter-City Gas can pass on savings of roughly 7 dollars yearly due to low gas purchase costs. New charges include 2,000 cubic feet at a set rate, plus 1.6473 per thousand cubic feet thereafter, with minimum monthly charges set for different service levels.
