Crop insurance cheaper here in Manitoba than North Dakota
Manitoba farmers pay about four to five dollars per hundred dollars of coverage for crops such as wheat and barley, versus ten dollars in North Dakota. Across 14 crop insurance comparisons in 1976, Manitoba rates average far lower, with subsidies and policy flexibility contributing to lower costs. Manitoba officials say public subsidy and policy design reduce costs while maintaining coverage.
