Legislature Week Highlights Wheat Bill and Liquor License Reform
The legislature saw lively debate on a Government Liquor Control Act amendment to set up a licensing body for parlor licenses and case beer sales at rural hotels. The Wheat Bill dominated the stage, with Premier Bracken and W Sanford Evans arguing, Conservative leaders wavering, and a tight vote resulting in the bill moving to committee as party lines and procedural details shaped the session. The week ended with talk of Easter adjournment and extended work to finish remaining items.
