The MacGregor Herald from MacGregor Manitoba notes its establishment in February 1897 and publication at the Herald Printing Office. A stamp of Post Office Department and Ottawa reference appear, with A M Shaw named as publisher.
Preparation rules for the National Barley Contest of 1918 are being updated by the contest committee. Prospective contestants are advised to ensure seed supplies covering at least 40 acres, with a preference for more. Registration and certified seed improve odds. For 1948 the eligible varieties are Montcalm, 0.4.C.21, Measury Ottawa 80 for Manitoba and Saskatchewan, with Alberta adding Olt.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs J Bond on their recent marriage. A good crowd attended the Whist Drive in Southend on Friday March 19. Prizes went to Mrs Art Chant and G Billings, with consolation prizes to RJ Shaw and K Cox. Mrs Wm Pennell has returned home from Portagela Prairie Hospital after a two week stay. Mr K Scott is a patient at the hospital following an operation on Monday morning.
The Village of MacGregor issues a public notice requiring all dogs to be licensed by April 15. Fees are 2.00 for male dogs and 3.00 for female dogs. Licenses can be obtained from Constable Percy Templer or the Sec treas G E Lewin at the village office.
