A collection of thanks from families expresses sincere appreciation for messages, floral tributes, and support after loss. The Gourdie Family thanks friends of Lavenham W A for sympathy and tributes to their mother. Percy Templer and others extend thanks for cards hospital visits and help from neighbors and local groups.
Frances, Ted and family and Tom, Mary and family express thanks for kindness after the death of their mother Mrs Catherine Arnold. Special appreciation to Rev Harland Mr Cole and Mrs Allen Bredin pallbearers and to those who sent flowers messages. Thanks to Margaret Memorial Nursing Home staff and visitors who sent cards letters and gifts.

The Canadian northern affairs department in partnership with Eskimos conducted a July whaling expedition on the Tha Anne River 120 miles north of Churchill, Manitoba. The venture, directed by Bill Edwards, used traditional harpoons and small freighter canoes to harvest 43 belugas. Eskimo eat muktuk and whale meat, which can also serve as dog food. the belugas roam Hudson Bay mouths of rivers and gather in hundreds after ice breakup.
