Manitoba Pool Elevators announced a major expansion by purchasing the Reliance Grain terminal at Port Arthur with 3,550,000 bushels and twenty country elevators. The purchase brings total country elevators to 236, total capacity to 86,000,000 bushels, and terminal storage to 5,350,000 bushels.

Council discusses relief duties and March 7 1948 cutoff
