MacGregor Agricultural Society Plans for 1939 Fair Revisions
The MacGregor Agricultural Society held its second meeting of the year to prep for the July 16 fair. The prize list was revised and compares well with other Class C lists in the province. The Winnipeg Convention report was praised as a success, with talks on improving societies and agricultural pursuits. A Regina seed grain fair in 1932 was discussed, and a committee was formed to foster seed grain exhibits from the municipality. Efforts to secure Extension Department support for a Junior Grain Club and Junior Stock Judging Club were noted.

The report notes Canada faces an uneventful month in trade and finance, but harvest failures reduce yields by about half from the prior year. Prairie farmers received earlier payments, while final payments to Pool members depend on future prices. Visible wheat stocks in Canada total about 218 million bushels.

Canada’s mixed outlook as grain and trade feel lulls
The report notes a delayed movement of the short crop burdens transport and unemployment, while governments and railways plan large capital outlays. Power output remains high, bank notes fall, loans rise, and Prairie Provinces show cautious activity with wheat at 1.10 in February. Livestock supplies are modest, hogs firm, and sheep and lamb trading slow.
