The Red Cross seeks volunteers to donate blood for the armed forces. Register with the organizer as arrangements are made for a Portage Blood Clinic. Eligible donors are healthy persons aged 18 to 55. More details to follow. The March 8 St Pauls W A meeting is at Mrs. H A Lye’s home at 3 p m.
Thos Clarke labeled local poultry king exhibited about thirty head of White Plymouth Rocks and Cornish Giants at the Neepawa Poultry Show last week. He won ten first prizes eight seconds five thirds and five special prizes. Congratulate Tom Born. The Mac Gregor Curling Club opened its annual bonspiel with twenty-nine rinks participating. Entries include three from Sidney and Beaver, two from Bagot, and single teams from Austin and Southend. Semifinals are underway in the Grand Challenge and Citizens events with about ninety games total slated through Saturday.
Novelty Bonspiel starts next Monday at the curling rink with two competitions organized by the Ladies Club. Each rink has two ladies and two gents, entry fee one dollar per rink. Participants should sign up with Mrs J L Lamb or Mrs A R Stinson by Friday night for rink drawing.
Henry B. Fryer aged 79 died February 10 at Fort William Ontario. A former MacGregor hardware store operator, he later ran a Fort William photography studio. Survived by daughter Mrs H M Scott and son John Fryer. another son Major Hal C Fryer M C was killed in the first Great War. Cremation arranged in Minneapolis. ashes to be interred in MacGregor cemetery.
Effective midnight Tuesday meat rationing in Canada is temporarily suspended until further notice. Ration book holders should keep unexpired meat coupons as the suspension is not a cancellation of the program.
