MWFE Protests Lake Flooding in Manitoba
Manitoba Wildlife Federation passed three resolutions at its annual meeting protesting immediate flooding of South Indian Lake in northern Manitoba. The lake would be flooded if Manitoba Hydro obtains provincial approval to divert the Churchill River for a hydro power project. About 600 Indigenous people living near the lake would be relocated. The resolutions urge more studies on the proposed flooding, to assess recreational losses and to release previously undisclosed reports from the last Legislature.
