District residents attend Air Force Day at Macdonald and visitBrandon events. Local fund drives accept donations for medical training in India. Church services, school activities, and social gatherings continue as showers bless crops. A well rescue at a farm, rink renovations, and mission band meetings mark community life with lunches and programs.
Emma Beck, 85, perished in a blaze that leveled a two storey frame house on her brother Jim Beck’s farm five miles southeast of Bagot. Tim and Eva Beck were nearby during the Wednesday June 11 tragedy and could not reach their ailing sister upstairs.
A June 9 meeting of the Bagot MacGregor and Portage Beef Calf Clubs in Bagot Hall discussed taking club calves to the Winnipeg Stockyards for the July 10 show and sale. Talks by Forbes Portage and Mc Nair Carberry covered show aspects. calves may be sold by Draper if available, else through commission firms. Clubs will handle transportation and all members are expected to participate.
After the meeting adjourned the club hosted lunch for its guests following the decision to participate in the Winnipeg show.
