Beaver Church Anniversary Highlights Manitoba Landmark Founding
Beaver community marked the 50th anniversary of Beaver United Church born from Hampton Presbyterian in 1801 and nearby Methodist origins. In 1913 the two merged, becoming Manitoba and perhaps Canada's first United Church. The weekend celebration drew pioneers and residents as Rev. N. S. R. McLeod led, with Dr. Geo. A. Dickson delivering a stirring address on faith and national renewal. A second night featured music, reminiscences, and tributes to settlers like the Menzies, Youngs, Harknesses, McAskies,Richardsons, McElveveys, and others. A lunch concluded the events.
