Pork Production to Peak in Summer and Fall

The agriculture department forecast pork production will peak this summer after a rise since late 1973, with hog slaughter in Q2 1974 about five percent higher than 1973 and Q3 1974 up four percent. Combined Q4 1974 and Q1 1975 marketing is expected to be slightly below the year-ago level, due mainly to a likely drop in breeding in early 1974.
