Mr and Mrs G Hughson and family from Pine Creek spent a short visit Sunday with the Pilkington family. Miss Remple spent the weekend at her home in Sidney. Several district residents attended the Rosendale meeting for the combined picnic set for Tuesday June 30. Mr and Mrs R Tarr attended events nearby.
Mrs Bodie and Mrs Bud Brown with Patty visited the Landers family Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs W Carson and family were guests with the Gourley family. Frank Arthur and Elsie Hounsome were supper guests with Mr and Mrs G Crewson on Sunday.
Macaulay School enjoyed a sunny Field Day in Austin with Ellen Hulme taking high jump, Kathleen Turner third in a race, and the school team placing third in Soft Ball and first in dodge ball. Nearby visits connect Winnipeg, Portage, and Brandon residents. a June 29 picnic is planned in Nelson Hulme’s pasture, and births, weddings, christenings, and local travel are noted with many familiar names.
Sunday services listed for Dee Garks ST Pauls MacGregor and Christ Church Austin. Holy Trinity Sidney holds 230 p.m. Bethel Church offers 1030 a.m. services and 730 p.m. revival with Tuesday young peoples meeting. Wm J Schnell, former Jehovahs Witness and author, speaks June 12 at 8 p.m. in Austin Community Hall, sponsored by Rev Harland and Rev Funk.
The United Church Sunday School will hold a Vacation School for children ages 3 to 11 during the week of July 20. Open to all, children urged to register with Mrs W Allan, Mrs S Moore or Mrs F Hay. Further details to follow.
Sidney News reports Rural Life Sunday at Sidney United Church with 4H clubs in attendance from Firdale Norfolk Sewing and Swine, Ravenshoe Swine, and Sidney Garden accompanied by special music from Miss Loise Stephenson of Austin. Mentions of local visits and a hospital stop for Mrs O'Brien, and congratulations to Abe Weibe and the Wiebe grandparents on a new grandchild.
Mrs P Wiebe attended the wedding of her nephew Charlie McKay in Killarney on Saturday May 30. The couple now reside in Sidney and celebrate with anniversary congratulations to Sam and Mrs O’Brien on their 53rd wedding anniversary. Sunday visitors included Hugh McPherson, Arnold Thomas of Winnipeg, and Mrs Kellett and Phyllis of Carberry. The Sidney CGLT held a picnic at Jacksons Lake with mothers, Sunday School and Explorer Leaders. The YP A Portage district held a weiner roast and picnic in Nicholson hills with about 50 youths from Carberry, Austin and Sidney.
