Potato Stew Label Fight Prompts Beef Content Debate
The Consumers' Association of Canada urges changing labels on beef stews to Potato Stew as tests show beef rarely dominates. Only one of 12 brands has beef as the main solid ingredient, with potatoes often the majority. The group notes several labels misorder ingredients and calls for regulations to show beef percentages. Also covered is federal cooling-off rules for door-to-door sales, with FTC proposing a nationwide three-day period for $25+ purchases.

Lunch Breaks While Shopping Drive Up Food Prices
Rancher Bert Hargraves hears from Winnipeg store owner Jack Bastable that free lunches taken during shopping push up prices. Nursing Standards Stagnant, North America Warned by Speaker
Gina Bohn of McMaster University told delegates at the Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses meeting that nursing education and standards have stagnated since the 1960s. She urged university-based training, challenged hospital indoctrination, and called for nurses to file formal complaints against unethical physicians while noting many nurses are uninformed and do not read. The speech warns nursing could become a trade without action and highlights a push for academic education over hospital programs.
