Premium Currency Rules Warn Canadian Merchants
Canadian businessmen are reminded they must charge the full ten percent premium on U.S. currency, travelers cheques, or silver when dealing with American tourists. Banks accept these rates, but accepting other rates is punishable by severe penalties. Holding U.S. currency beyond a few days is also an offense.
