Hot grain claim disputed by Vancouver grain workers union

Louis Driscoll, general manager of United Grain Growers, calls the term hot grain misleading. He says only Alberta Wheat Pool terminal grain near the Vancouver terminal is affected by a strike, while all cars at the UGG terminal come from holding yards or country elevators. The blockade by Alberta Wheat Pool dumper operators has left the terminal nearly empty and may force a temporary shutdown.

Manitoba wildlife director G A Malaher says hunters may face a shorter season and lower limit this year. He spoke at the Manitoba Federation of Game and Fish Associations meeting about weak duck populations despite good water conditions.
