Tide Turns as Allies Gain Ground Across Fronts
Two years into the war the Allies show marked gains. Britain built a formidable army, France and Russia solved munitions woes, and Allied artillery outmatches Germany. On the Eastern front Russians advance near Riga and Galicia, Italians beat Austrians, and Turkish defeats persist in Armenia. Three thousand square kilometres of enemy territory are now in Allied hands.
