Holidaying and Seeing the Country on a Western Prairie Trip
A travelogue recounts a motor trip through Manitoba and Saskatchewan towns from Virden to Shoal Lake with stops at Maryfield, Fairlight, Miniota and Birtle. It notes patchy crops along No 1 Highway, a new flour mill near Brant, and frequent rains improving crops at Maryfield and Fairlight. The piece describes Cemeteries at Birtle, meetings with locals, and visits to Newdale, Wasagaming and Wasagaming resorts, with crowds at Clear Lake. It contrasts dry weather hurting crops in eastern areas and migration northward.
