Riding Mountain Park Opens Its Doors to Public
The official opening of Riding Mountain National Park on Wednesday July 26 marks Manitoba’s national playground since 1930. The Department of the Interior has developed 1 148 square miles with roads, buildings, and recreation facilities. Wasagaming Park Headquarters Improves Southern Shore Access
The park at Clear Lake near Wasagaming has undergone extensive improvements for visitor comfort. New streets, resurfaced roads, and landscape work update the Clark Beach townsite. Rustic shelters, camp stoves, and lockers in a community ice house aid campers. Spring wells supply drinking water. The area hosts elk, moose, deer, black bear, and beaver, with boating and fishing in bays and coves. Recreation ground and tennis near the island beach, plus hiking and riding on Orton Forest trails, enhance activities. A new high road connects the park to the provincial road network, improving access from Dauphin, Neepawa, Portage la Prairie, Winnippeg, Brandon, and Minnedosa.
