Westbourne Wins North Norfolk Fair Baseball Trophy
Westbourne baseball team led by Elmer Cairns captured the four team North Norfolk fair tournament title and the J Walter Allan Memorial Trophy. Portage edged MacGregor 1 0 in nine innings in the opener as Barrie Barber delivered a strong outing while Westbourne defeated Carberry 7 4 in the final with Jack Wolfe going the distance. MacGregor Bears claimed the Little League crown by beating Edwin while Rossendale took top Pony League honors defeating Austin and MacGregor.

Council Turns Down Abattoir Application
The Village of Macaregor council rejected Lamb Bros. building permit for an abattoir behind their current shop. Other sites were proposed but not available or rejected. The council will seek a site, with decisions to be discussed later, while Lamb Brothers must have a water and sewered building by July 1967 per health rules.

Cardinals Top Pony League Champions Near Portage Prairie
The MacGregor district minor baseball program fielded the Cardinals who finished on top and beat the Portage Monarchs in the finals. The final with Portage Co op was to start last night at Portage with a second game at MacGregor Friday at 6 30 pm. An allstar team for provincial playdowns was chosen from MacGregor including Jim Snaith Raymond Nichol Jack Gibson Dwight Nichol and Ken Wright. For game observers contact Fred Snaith or Glen Nichol.

Beverley DeAthe Shows Grand Champion at North Norfolk Fair
North Norfolk’s 79th annual fair ran two days of fine weather with record entries in baking canning and hand work. Beverley DeAthe of Sidney Beef Club won the grand champion calf bought by the Coop for 38 cents a pound. Grand champions emerged in cattle horses and sheep with winners from Portage Fisher Branch Westbourne Elgin and Carberry among others. Parades and 4H clubs highlighted Friday’s events while Saturday hosted baseball and Pony League actions.

A string of break-ins struck MacGregor this past week at MacGregor Billiards municipal office Barton's Red and White Denwal Pharmacy and the Co op. Thieves took license plates from the office cigarettes from the pool hall watches and radios from the Co op. The drug store was the unluckiest and the burglars caused a broken door at Blass but nothing was taken.

Austin Sports Day Draws Over Nine Hund Red Fans
Austin celebrated Sominnar Day with a full agenda of ball events drawing more than 900 spectators. MacGregor won the eight team baseball tournament by defeating Carberry 8 4 in the semi finals and shutting out Portage 30. Carberry took third with Treherne fourth.
