Dauphin Dairy Plant Destroyed By Fire
A major dairy facility in the Dauphin area was destroyed by a fire last week. Winds up to 44 mph hampered efforts, with more than $200,000 in damage. Arthur V. Rampton owned the 1000 acre Gartmore Guernsey Farms, Manitoba’s Centennial farmer in 1970. About 150 cattle were saved from the barn before the blaze, which started near an exhaust fan in the ray loft, engulfing the plant and office areas.
