Nutrition for Manitoba Youth and Health Promotion

Manitoba readers are urged to focus on nutrition to raise healthier children and improve community well being. A study shows nine to twelve year old boys gaining three pounds over three months with a nutritious noon lunch, versus a typical one and a half pounds. Emphasis is placed on simple, common foods such as dried beans, carrots, whole grains, citrus, cheese, greens, dark molasses, milk, liver, pork, peanut butter, potatoes, and tomatoes to bolster resistance to disease and vitality. The message ties overall health to proper diet and urges better food use in Manitoba households.
