Manitoba Sees Growth in New Industries After War
Manitoba reports a strong year for business with 53 new industries starting in 1947 and 40 in 1948, totaling 165 new plants manufacturing 130 products since the war end. Gross provincial output in 1947 is estimated at about 436 million dollars, chiefly from industry. The minister urges communities to actively pursue and support local industry and to strengthen local industrial committees while recognizing the value of existing small plants. In memory of Viola McIntosh, died January 19, 1946, sisters remember her with loving tribute.
